Happy Halloween! We’re finally, officially, closing out Lap 15 with another movie we should have covered already: Heart Eyes! After Joe recounts his unforgettable theater experience when he saw Heart Eyes for the first time, Joey shares a bit of information about the horror pedigree behind the scenes. We talk about the reasons this movie works well as both a horror and a rom-com, as well as how it plays with trappings from both genres. We celebrate a filmmaker finally giving Jordana Brewster things to do, talk about the film’s major Fastnection, and praise its inventive set pieces and slasher-style kills. We also commend it on its restraint to not end with a way to set this up for an easy sequel before playing our end-of-episode games.
